I love anything quirky and fun. If you know anyone who loves wine and candles, this is your place. Aromatic Infusions is not limited to candles, there are soaps and tumblers too. I came across them on my search for Soy Candles. I was burning inexpensive, even expensive candles and happened to wash a tiny part of my kitchen wall. Hours of elbow grease later, I swore off all candles that burn sooty.

The world has too much trash! UpCycled Style & Aromatic Infusions hopes to change that. An eco-friendly, green company. All of their glass work is at least 50% re-purposed glass, hence UpCycled Style. Stunning glass colors. Re-cycled shipping materials from other vendors. Their goal is to turn the planet green…one piece of trash at a time.

“Uncorked” a name so appropriate for…

Pet Treat Maker by Open Country (Food Dehydrator) Combo

The Pet Treat Maker by Open Country (NESCO) is a really great item for pet lovers, those who enjoy dehydrating food and saving money. Dehydrating food is easy and can be fun. It can be used in place of canning and freezing and saves so much room if you already have storage issues.Pet Food Dehydrator 1 NESCO offers this product on their website for $59.95.

This is the actual Pet Treat Maker by Open Country (NESCO). It’s super light, easy to use and even easier to clean.

Features
5 drying trays
Recipe book with 25 homemade recipes for your pet
2 dog bone and 1 fish-shaped treat cutters
Jerky gun with 3 attachments for making jerky strips and sticks
5 packets of pet treat spice (enough to season 5 pounds of treats)

Download their Pet Treat Maker Manual

I used the Parmesan Bacon Chicken Strips recipe as a guide (page 7) on my Pet Treat Maker by Open Country’s (NESCO) Manual. It was the least intimidating recipe I could find and I had all the ingredients. I used the turkey leftovers from Christmas instead of chicken. I also tossed in Carrington Farm’s Organic Flax Hemp Blend and plain yogurt. I never follow a recipe precisely.

Makes about two dozen bacon shaped treats
Turkey
Plain yogurt
Squash (also leftover)
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds, hulled, roasted
2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, dry, grated
2 tablespoons flour (can be wheat, rice, oat or barley)
2 tablespoons bacon, cooked, crumbled

I mixed the ingredients in my food processor. If I can minimize a few steps, I’m all for it. As long as the consistency is thick enough where the mixture does not fall through the vents in the bottoms of the tray, you shouldn’t have any issues with your Pet Treat Maker by Open Country (NESCO). The consistency of my treats were like frosting, making it easy to work with.

Fill up your “Jerky Gun” and let it rip. I made bacon like strips. I cleared out the kitchen table and filled up all five trays.
Pet Food Dehydrator 2

Dehydrate 3 to 5 hours in the Pet Treat Maker. When your treat is done, it should be dry, with no moisture remaining, and break easily.

Store in an airtight container. If not used within a week, refrigerate up to three weeks although excess can be frozen. I had no issues in freezing or storing these because my dog loved them and I’m a sucker for those big doggie eyes. Chance loved them and I loved the cost!

Since I have oodles of  time to kill now that I painstakingly wrapped each Christmas gift as it were a Faberge’ Egg, what a perfect time to make Swiss Cheese bread and try my pajama jeans! 😉

I ran out and got all the ingredients for my bread making experience. After I unloaded the bags on the counters and prepared the ingredients right in the loaf pan, bells started ringing and I heard the mixer churning.  I woke up in the middle of the night and checked on my Swiss Cheese Bread. Apparently, I used 1/4 cup of water vs. the required 1 1/4 cup of water…

Determined not to give up, and frustrated with myself, I made a loaf of white bread and tossed in some shredded Mozzarella. After the whirring stopped, it baked for a little over two hours and came out steaming hot and delicious.

Good luck!
